Artist's Comments

I had originally placed this in my scraps but was encouraged via notes to put it in my gallery. Thank you for the kind comments.

This is the Virginia Beach fishing pier. Went out there this morning to practice with my replacement Nikon. My beloved D50 sensor has died so now I'm using a D60 till I can purchase the D90 I have my eyes on (I'm buying some expensive lenses first! LOL).

This camera doesn't take as good of night shots as the D50 and I feel like I'm learning all over again how to take night shots on it. None of the setting that took amazing shots with my D50 work right with this camera so hopefully as I take more night shots, I will figure out the trick to get the type of shots I love.

Oh by the way? That white "haze" you see in the front of the photo? That is waves, about 4 to 5 foot breakers crashing on the shore with an ocean storm raging right off shore. Gotta love bulb settings lol.

Data

Nikon D60
ISO 100
Exposure 31.2 sec
F-stop f/18
Aperture -7
White Balance Full Sun
Manual Setting
Remote Shutter Release

Thank you, your kind words and the notes I got about it really made me feel better about the photo.

I've decided to put it in my gallery.

Very nice! I only live about half an hour from this place, but I've never been tempted to photograph it.

I was trying to get a sunrise, we live about 2 hours from there but instead got to watch a pretty cool light show instead.

You should definitely photograph it sometime.

Just about the way I remember it. Of course it looks better and more dramatic here.

Good Job.

It's true, sometimes "older" cameras take better shots than the new ones ;)

I must try to photograph something like this :)

I never delete something from my gallery. But I do move things to Scraps, so if you have time to take a look here, too... [link]

Glad you listened to all the people to send you notes! It's beautiful!
